Google Tip of the Week: Search By Color

As I have mentioned before Google is an amazing resource but in my short time as a academic librarian I have realized that many people particularly students do not how to search Google or any search engine for that matter effectively. So rather than bombarding you with all the things you can do with Google to have more effective search results once a week on Thursday I will provide a Google Tip of the Week.

This week’s tip searching images by color. I decided this would be a good tip to start with after reading Search by Color? A Little Know Trick to Find the Right Image.

Info & Lit: Up and Running!

So after much, much, much delay Info & Lit is up and running! It was my plan and still is to have a full functioning website devoted to information and literacy. Why? Well for many reasons but first and foremost I want to share my love of information with the world. As an instruction librarian, many people outside of the world of libraries don’t understand what library professionals do and how important and awesome finding the right information can be. With the expansion and continued growth of the world wide web, too often people think they can find what they need by just googling it. And though Google is an amazing resource and tool for libraries and the people who use them, libraries are just as significant but often underutilized and under appreciated, I want to change that.

As a librarian I did not get into the profession for the books. I decided to become a librarian because of my love of information and technology, and what information can do for people. If given the right tools and information can change people lives. It is my hope that with this website I can share my love of information with the world and teach people how to be better finders of the information that they need and want. This website will focus on different topics, libraries, technology and literacy in all its forms. I hope that you enjoy it!
